Exhibition design for the artist Tamara Henderson at Camden Arts Centre.
Tamara’s work draws attention to the earth beneath our feet, with a focus on earthworm ecology and the process of decay and transformation in compost soil. “Green in the Grooves" revealed humanity’s involvement in global patterns of decomposition, regeneration and metamorphosis.
The exhibition was structured around four archetypes, personified as characters, each with its own material signature, language and structure: The Garden, The Director, Sound and Lights. In an age saturated by the digital Henderson’s work brings us back to materials—to the analogue and hand-made, to process and experimentation.
The design responded to these themes. A 16mm film was shrouded in a curved structure utilising dry stacked cob earth blocks and fabric. Sculptures were placed provisionally, on piled earth and cob plinths.
