Installation for To My Ships at Liberty London.
Crafted from timber and aluminium, the arrangement comprises three forms: a tall column, a shorter weathered column, and a central table.
To My Ships derives its name from the Catalogue of Ships (the second chapter of Homer’s enduring eighth-century BCE epic, The Iliad). Drawing inspiration from these verses, fragments of Greek text from the poem were engraved in Uncial script upon the column surfaces. Liberty’s architecture (celebrating its 150-year anniversary) also provides an ideal context—itself constructed from timbers salvaged from historic ships.
